Portraits with Purpose: Photographing Audrey Taylor Gonzalez for River City Lifestyle

One of the true joys of being a photographer is the opportunity to meet and connect with remarkable people whose stories inspire and uplift. My recent assignment for River City Lifestyle magazine introduced me to one such individual: Audrey Taylor Gonzalez, a beloved Memphis icon known for her compassion, creativity, and lifelong dedication to serving others.

Audrey’s story is as vibrant as the city she calls home. A celebrated author, philanthropist, and Episcopal deacon, she has spent decades advocating for the underserved and championing the arts in Memphis. Whether through her writing, her ministry, or her tireless volunteer work, Audrey’s impact on the community is both deep and far-reaching. When River City Lifestyle asked me to photograph her for a feature story, I knew I was about to document someone truly special.

The shoot took place in Audrey’s welcoming home, a space filled with warmth, character, and the kind of eclectic details that speak to a life well-lived. From the moment I arrived, Audrey greeted me with her signature kindness and humor, instantly putting me at ease. My aim was to capture not only her portrait, but also the spirit that makes her such a beloved figure in Memphis.
